Not willing to let a ride go by the wayside, the next dry Sunday after a very wet meeting day we were off to Delaware. It was only a short ride to Delaware City to get the ferry. The $6.00 fee covered the boat ride to the fort, tram service from the dock to the fort, a ferry ride and entry to Fort Mott in Jersey and back to Delaware City. A re-enactment was in full swing with hundreds of actors in costume all over the island. One of the large cannons on top of the fort was being fired at regular intervals. We were free to explore the fort and surrounding grounds. We then took a boat ride to Jersey and back before continuing on Rt. 9 to the Boondocks Restaurant for a late lunch. For desert we rode back up Rt.9 and home.
