Good Friday started out dry and overcast as we headed to Burger King to meet. By the time we drank a cup of coffee the sky opened up and we had to wait and wait and wait. After an hour and a half we moved the waiting room west on Rt. 70 to Cycle World. We had some fun looking at all the 2001 bikes as the rain came down. The rain slowed to a light mist time to ride. The edge of clear blue sky was peaking out to the northwest and we were headed south! Dooh!
The highways were almost dry on the way to Gloucester County where we made the switch to backroads for the remainder of the ride. The drizzle continued for the next 60 miles. Some of the riders had no rain riding experience! That soon changed. They were amazed at the amount of wet traction their bike had. The sunshine finally caught up to us at the Maurice River.
Just past the Muskrat Crossing we stopped for a break and to meet up with a friend of a member who rode up from Cape May to meet us. Next stop - the lighthouse at Cape May Point.
A trio of Amish girls was running in the surf while Grandma kept watch and families were enjoying the spring weather at the shore. It was a nice day after all. If only we didn't have to clean the road grime off our bikes!
